CONGRATULATIONS TO THE
ALBERTA ARETE AWARD WINNERS!
The results are in!
Lisa Frizzell, Director of Public Relations, was selected as the winner of this year's CPRS Alberta Arete Award in External Communications. Lisa's winning project was the direct in the community - Volunteer Citizen of the Year Awards 2006; an awards program designed to acknowledge the valuable contribution of volunteers to the communities in which they live. The program is run in partnership between Direct Energy and the Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association and targets rural communities across
Alberta. Judges for the category found Lisa's entry to be an outstanding example of an external communications program.
Grant Kaiser APR, P.Mgr. received honourable mention in the external category for his entry: Great Alberta Reading Challenge. Grant is the Manager of Marketing & Development at the Calgary Public Library.
Jason Krell, a student in the Mount Royal College Public Relations Program since 2004, is this year's recipient of the CPRS Alberta Arete Student Award sponsored by Genome
Alberta. Jason has been recognized for his commitment to the program and to his classmates, and for his ability to exceed expectations in his assignments. Program Chair Janis Robertson describes Jason as a strategic thinker and a leader.
Mariam Kadri, a student at the
University of
Calgary, received honourable mention in the student category.
This year's winners received their awards at the CPRS National Conference in
Edmonton as part of the Gala Awards Dinner on June 15th.
