Bachelor of Arts - Communication Studies

The Communications Studies (COMS) program prepares students for careers in any field that requires skills in writing and speaking, a critical understanding of media, and a broad knowledge of social and cultural issues. This interdisciplinary education enables graduates to adapt to a variety of challenges in today's fast-paced world. Students study core areas of history and technology, culture, rhetoric, society and politics, and acquire a critical understanding of how communication processes form and express human culture. Formal study of writing, public speaking, and traditional and new media, provides students with a broad sense of the social practices that link knowledge and culture.

This program will be of interest to PR practitioners who wish to continue to develop their skills and knowledge, and to those who are new to the field and whose organizational roles encompass areas of expertise within the broad field of public relations.

The program is offered in co-operation with the Calgary chapters of the Canadian Public Relations Society and the International Association of Business Communicators.
